The Provincetown Film festival is being held this week  Wednesday June 15 through Sunday June 19th.  Provincetown International Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing new film work and honoring filmmaking achievements.

Opening Night film: THE PERFECT FAMILY

When suburban mother and devout Catholic Eileen Cleary (Kathleen Turner) runs for the Catholic Woman of the Year title at her local parish-an award she has coveted for years-her final test is introducing her family to the board for the seal of approval. Now she must finally face the nonconformist family she has been glossing over for years. With Emily Deschanel, Jason Ritter, Sharon Lawrence and Richard Chamberlain.

Closing Night film: MASTER HAROLD AND THE BOYS

Based on the Award winning play by Athol Fugard, MASTER HAROLD AND THE BOYS is set in South Africa at the beginning of apartheid and tells the story of Hally (Freddie Highmore), a vulnerable white teenager torn between the love of his racist, alcoholic father, and his love for Sam (Ving Rhames), a black waiter in his mother’s tea room.

Other highlights among the 50+ films programmed this year include: the US Premiere of DIRTY GIRL; the World Premiere of VARLA JEAN & THE MUSHROOM HEADS; the East Coast and New England Premiers of TOMBOY and ON TOUR; festival/award-winning international favorites ANOTHER EARTH, JANIE JONES and HAPPY, HAPPY; new acclaimed documentaries THE LAST MOUNTAIN, PAGE ONE: INSIDE THE NEW YORK TIMES and TABLOID; the Portuguese sidebar, which includes the films CIVIL WAR and CONVENTO; the Youth & Diversity Program will include THE BULLY PROJECT; and the annual A NIGHT AT THE DRIVE-IN will show ALIENS and TROLLHUNTER.
