The Optimist Cafe Restaurant in Yarmouth Port MA

The Optimist Café  is a charming restaurant in Yarmouth port that serves breakfasts, brunches, lunches, and high tea. Originally, the Captain Howes House, this beautiful historic home was built in 1849 by Captain Frederick Howes (1812 – 1882). And is now listed on the National Historic Register. Stepping into the world of The Optimist Café is a treat not to be missed whether you are a Cape Cod native, or a treasured visitor from out of town. Aside from viewing one of the finest renovations done to an historic house on route 6A, the old Gothic Revival home boasts all the original wood flooring, original plastered walls and ceilings, spiral staircase and French doors. Come enjoy breakfast lunch, high tea and wine in one of the oldest homes on Route 6A  They have typical breakdast offerings including  omlets, pancakes and french toast. Lunch has some some  club style sandwiches and wraps available. They also have a gluten free menu.

Whether it’s a bridal shower, birthday, baby shower, rehearsal dinner, meeting, an afternoon out with the girls or any other special event, The Optimist Café offers a welcome and postive respite to celebrate and enjoy with your friends!

Lovely specials…Canuk bacon &blue Burger, spicy chicken sandwich, and 100% homemade cinnamon rolls French toast….so so so good. )

Not only is the food excellent but the staff is absolutely wonderful. My partner and I visited for afternoon tea for our 4 year anniversary, he has a severe nut allergy. I was able to contact the Optimist online in advance, not only did they made the scones in a nut free facility, they went above and beyond to accommodate him. Everything was delicious it’s very hard to pick a standout dish but we both really enjoyed the Toffee dessert. Will recommend to anyone planning visiting the cape. Cheers!

I was at the optimist cafe a few months ago and i had the honor to meet the owner Kristina-she was very amiable,we were assisted by the waiter Adam and the manager Jessie – great people!!! i was there with my kids Kayro and Kayla and we delight an excellent breakfast cooked from chef Cesar – i can’t wait to go back

In celebration of our 4th grandchild we held a tea party themed baby shower at The Optimist Cafe. The setting was perfect, food and service excellent!
