Chillingsworth French Cuisine Restaurant & Bistro in Brewster MA

Chillingsworth, French Cuisine  the Cape’s most celebrated restaurant located in  Brewster MA  for more than 30 years, features a modern American multi-course dinner served in the charm and elegance of a Colonial Home with attentive service and award winning wines.

Are you heading to Brewster soon?

We’ve put together a list of some of the things to do, places to visit, and where to eat!

It  is housed on the 300 year-old Chillingsworth Foster estate in the beautiful, historic and quaint town of Brewster. Set among six acres of lawns and gardens, it has been the Cape’s premier restaurant for more than thirty years. The estate is also home to three lovely Guestrooms.

A second restaurant known as the Bistro, offering a more casual dining experience, is located in our Greenhouse / Gallery area. The Bistro is a great choice for those times you crave Chillingsworth cuisine, but don’t have time for the seven course menu offered in the Main Dining rooms. Lunch and Sunday Brunch are also served in the Bistro.

Boston Magazine says Chillingsworth… “is home to one of the most enchanting dining experiences in all of New England…in a dining room teeming with antiques, fresh flowers and ultra smooth service. Chillingsworth charms with the luscious richness of French cuisine mixed with a soupcon of brighter, lighter flavors”

Reservations are recommended at this upscale restaurant. It is  great romantic restaurant that is perfect for date night or an anniversary celebration.

Here are some of the reviews

In the bistro and in the fine dining restaurant, we have always had consistently delicious meals. Whether subtle or bold, their flavors and combinations are always memorably spot-on. Highly recommend!

I would recommend this quaint charming restaurant 100% Truly THE BEST lobster bisque I’ve ever had. We sat outside under the oak tree, we all (party of 4) had the lobster bisque and we ALL agreed it was the best we have ever tasted. 3 of us had lobster pasta and 1 had sea bass and we ALL enjoyed our meals. in fact, my husband wanted to go back the next night – it was that good – and we never think to go to a restaurant 2 times in a row while on vacation. If you are in Brewster, MA….do yourself a favor and order the lobster bisque!

“You can feel the Love”. Pat and Nitzi have become friends over the very many seasons I have had the good fortune to be able to enjoy their hospitality. Not a “flash in the pan”, this Cape Cod institution has weathered the variances of economy and food trends to attain/maintain a level of excellence to be sampled as oft as able. Both Fine Dining and Bistro are available. Please take your taste buds for a tour of the kitchen, and Fine Wine list if desired.
You’ll be pleased with the tour; and don’t forget the cam/IPhone as all plates are Gourmet level photogenic as well as Tres Bon!!

My husband and I first went to Chillingsworth on the night we married- 25 years ago- July 1990. I have traveled extensively and still say it is our favorite restaurant. We recently had the seven course meal with friends and there were a lot of superb adjectives said around our table! It certainly is our favorite restaurant for many reasons beyond the remarkable food presentations-all five senses are piqued!

Had a lovely outdoors dinner on Cape Cod last night..little out of swamp at Chillingsworth, Brewster MA. First class dining, super bottle of White Bordeaux. No pics..sorry. Salmon pan seared over greens..great taste. Chicken over silky smooth mashed potato, excellent rich gravy. Flourless Choc cake with Raspberry to die for. Very worthwhile. NO rush..wonderful careful service.

Chillingworth, you know what you will get. Friendly service and consistently good food. Take your time, don’t be in a rush and enjoy the local flavor. People are fun and we have met many locals during our visits, some now we recognize and they us. Great community of Brewster and Chillingsworth is a must dine at least once. We learned this year, that if you call days ahead for your reservation, and request the raspberry soufflé, if the pastry chef can do it, it is out of this world!!

The perfect place for dinner. A must for visitors and locals alike. Chillingsworth has a charming and delightful garden location or eat inside the antique home. We sat in the garden room surrounded by geraniums. The food is sublime, we had gazpacho, foie gras, truffle risotto and grilled duck. Everything was cooked to perfection. We finished with Angel cake and sticky toffee pudding. Delicious!
Our waitress was so kind and gave great recommendations. Even with a full dining room the food arrived timely and at a perfect temperature. She even joked with us and made us feel as though we were her only special guests.
Don’t miss out on this slice of paradise in Brewster. If you only go to one restaurant this summer, it has to be Chillingsworth.  We have already booked our next dinner and cannot wait to return.

After much research (our first time in Brewster), we chose to celebrate our anniversary dinner at Chillingsworth. We made an awesome choice. This is a beautiful old establishment that exudes history and character. The menu was still “summer” which was interesting, but my husband and I found plenty to love. We shared the escargot as an appetizer — loved the way the pistachios complemented the earthiness of the snails. I got the scallops for an entree and they were perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Husband got the short rib, which he struggled to finish, but it was too good to leave on the plate Despite the fact that we were completely filled, our server convinced us to try the special creme brule dessert. It was divine. Speaking of our server (Kerri Lee), she was amazing. She really made us feel that we and our anniversary were special and that she wanted us to enjoy every moment of it. She even took us on a tour of the restaurant that included some amazing cool old original rooms that are not currently in use. If you make reservations, I recommend asking for her — she is awesome. Shout out to the owner as well. She stopped by to chat and we talked about shared places we knew. This was not just a great meal for us. It was a fantastic anniversary experience
