Day 153 The Fishermonger Cafe Restaurant in Woods Hole MA

The Fishermonger Café restaurant is a family owned and friendly staple on the water in Woods Hole. Offering a casual atmosphere, great food, friendly service and a stand-out menu. A fishmonger (fishwife for women practitioners – “wife” in this case used in its archaic meaning of “woman”) is someone who sells fish and seafood. In some countries modern supermarkets are replacing fishmongers who operate in shops or markets.

The Fishmonger cafe is a great place to catch breakfast, lunch, dinner or a few cocktails while you’re visiting Woods Hole, on your Cape Cod vacation  or while waiting for a ferry to one of the islands.  Chef Troy is committed to using only the freshest of fish, meat and produce and buying local as often as possible. Our dining room is perfect for families as well as quiet nights out for two.   This building is built on pilings which means it literally sits atop Vineyard Sound. The sunny casual ambiance keeps The Monger the authentic local hot spot of downtown Woods Hole.

With a wide variety of menu items, the main focus is still seafood, but this state of the art kitchen boasts high end dishes in addition to Cape Cod fried classics. The Cafe has specialized in fresh seafood and wholesome meals for more than a quarter century and customers flock to the tiny building to savor The Monger’s signature creations, many of which exhibit a decidedly Mediterranean flair. Open year round and serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week (during summer hours) The Fishmonger’s menu is available for private parties and catering as well. The Fishmonger staff is committed to serving the freshest of food with the finest of service.
