Dining out

Colombo’s Cafe & Pastries Italian Restaurant in Hyannis MA

Colombo’s Café and Pastries is a Italian restaurant located on Hyannis Main Street!  It is a great place to grab a bite to eat during your Cape Cod Vacation. They are open year round and are a little bit of the North End on the Cape.

The name “Colombo” is the Italian form of “Colomba” the latin word for “dove”, which is the “Bird of Peace”. It is in the spirit of peace that friends and family gather to celebrate the everyday occurrences that touch our lives. Great food, drink and conversations are the cornerstones for the sharing of these convivial, day-to-day passions. Colombo’s Cafe & Pastries stands for the beloved concept born in Italy of the “gathering place”… truly a place that “welcomes everyone, everyday… at any time” translating as “Benvenuti a tutti” in Italian, whereby the tried and true, centuries-old tradition of “all are welcome” prevails.

The menu includes many Italian favorites including eggplant parmesan. saltimbocca turkey bologenese and many pasta dishes. If you are looking to get pizza and want a step up from “take out pizza’  in your hotel room.  Colombo’s has your classic tomato and pepperoni but also some special ones including  thai shrimp and Margarita ones.

You  MUST leave room for desert.  Check out the desert case while you are waiting for your delicious dinner or stop on in for coffee and desert   Their Italain desert menu includes Tiramisu, Cannolis,  ricoatta pies and many more. Also they serve Gelato which is is the perfecting ending for a perfect day.

Here are the reviews on Colombos Cafe & Pastries

I dined at Colombo’s on a recent trip to the Cape. I elected to try the Frutti di Mare for dinner. It was excellent! All of the seafood in it was fresh as can be and the capellini was cooked perfect. After dinner, I indulged in the chocolate chip cannoli and it was one of the best that I’ve had.

My Handsome Husband and I spent some time in Yarmouth this week. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Colombo’s Cafe in Hyannis. As we walked up, the hostess Liv held the door for us and I inquired about an outdoor table. Not a problem! Seated right away and given fresh bread and oil with fresh parmesan while we perused the menu and people watched. I decided on the Gnocchi with pecorino and a touch of marinara, it was awesome. Handsome Husband had his go-to meal, Chicken Parm. He is very picky about his chicken parm, and he said it was good but not the best (the best being Mother Anna’s, but your not going to get North End cooking on the Cape). Still, he said it was very good and the portion was huge. The service was excellent and another patron gave us a $10 gift certificate that she couldn’t use – score! Awesome meal, great company, free parking and a walk on Main Street afterwards. A perfect summer evening

My Dad wanted to take me out for my Birthday and We decided on Colombos on Main Street in Hyannis. We Sat outside. Decided on the Tropical Mai Tais. For Dinner I had the Manicotti and Meatballs and my Dad had the Mussels with the white whine sauce. Our Server was very attentive and asked my Dad for his sauce choice and its a good thing because the red sauce was spicy and my Dad would not have been a fan. Desert Consisted of Gellato which was delicious.

30 minute wait on a busy Saturday night….reasonable. All the selections sounded good – ended up with the encrusted salmon, risotto & asparagus dish – piping hot and delicious! Very attentive and courteous and attentive waiter (Eric?) I think. If we hadn’t been so full would have tried a pastry and/or some gelato – which looked great also! Would definitely visit again!

So last night for dinner My Dad tells me he wants Lasagna so off to Colombos we go. It was a Friday night and they are usually packed and we were told it was going to be 30 minutes but we got lucky and got a table right away. Our server came right over took our drink order and asked if wanted bread. Their bread is pretty tasty served with oil and cheese. My Dad ordered Lasagna and I ordered Manicotti with Homemade Meatballs. Food was served piping hot We both had leftovers as Gelato was on our minds for desert. My Dad got Caramel Sea Salt and I got Oreo and Cream.

We loved our visit here! The outside patio is beautifully decorated with trees and string lights, and the inside is just as romantic. The food and cocktails were excellent. Decent amount of seating is available; we did not have to wait very long for a table a Saturday night. Portions are a generous size, as well.

Had dinner with another couple last night . Our hostess & waiter were courteous and attentive; the food top notch. It was an extremely busy night and, like many of the restaurants nowadays, short on wait staff. The employees that were on duty were in third gear all night to keep the inside & outside diners happy and they did an exemplary job. Kudos to Columbo’s!

First time for lunch at Colombo’s – chicken parm and homemade pasta were excellent along with their fresh warm bread, Generous portions. Very well run and excellent service – everyone very attentive and friendly. Felt like we were family. We did not have any deserts but they looked delicious! Also noticed a lot of people came in for their cappuccino’s/coffee.

We have eaten at Colombos several times. The place never fails. Our last visit happened by accident actually. After walking Main St we decided that a late night dessert/snack was in order. The Hostess ushered us in to a wonderful small table ner the bar area where we had a great cocktail and a couple of their fabulous desserts. Dont miss this gem of a spot.
