The Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce has scheduled another exciting year for the popular “Eastern Bank Concerts by the Canal” series. The 2017 concerts are held at Bourne Community Serues each Thursday evening during July and August from 6:30 p.m – 8:30 p.m., right along the banks of the Canal near the base of the Bourne Railroad Bridge.
Wrinkles, The Musical will be performed at Cape Cod Theater in Harwich from May 11th to June 11th. This is the premiere performance of the musical.
In 2008, two dear friends celebrated their 60th birthdays. One went on a silent retreat for three weeks and wrote poetry. The other got a personal trainer, cosmetic dentistry, Botox, Juvaderm, and laser treatments. Using one of the poems, Hags and Crones as their inspiration, the two created the Wrinkles Review. The work was further shaped, developed, and directed by Broadway producer and longtime friend, Dani Davis as a “work in progress” performance at WHAT in 2010. Sold out houses and standing ovations encouraged the writers to keep working toward the development of an evening-length, two-act musical. With the intention of empowering older women, the writers based the script on real stories of Cape women ages 60-95 shared in workshops, interviews, and seminars. The Cape Cod Theatre Company presents the premiere of Wrinkles, the Musical, A Celebration of Women and Aging written by Naomi Turner and Wilderness Sarchild; directed by Nina Schuessler; with music by Grammy Award winner Jason Howland, Cape recording artist Sarah Burrill, and composer and musical director Malcolm Granger. (Mature audience.)

A great family night on the Cape Cod is the Wellfleet Drive in theatre Enjoy first run double features movies every night in the summer at the only Drive-In Theatre on Cape Cod. Built in 1957, the Wellfleet Drive-In hosts a 100′ x 44′ screen, and a state-of-the-art FM stereo sound system that decodes modern sound tracks. In many (but not all!) spots Mono original speakers are available for your nostalgic listening pleasure. There’s a playground and snack bar too! The Wellfleet Drive-In Theatre is open from late May through the weekend beyond Labor Day.
You must plan to listen to the soundtrack through your car stereo on FM 89.5. Mono speakers are no longer 100% functional. Like lots of things from the 1950’s, some still work and some don’t! These are mostly for nostalgic purposes; the sound is much better through your radio. You should also use the accessory key position (see your car owners manual) instead of the on position, and turn off all other accessories including the a/c even though the engine isn’t running. Please know how to disable your car alarm as well. Please keep the sound to a reasonable volume, our neighbors need tranquility.
