CCADA Spring Falmouth Antique Show 2017

The Cape Cod Antique Dealers Association is reviving its Spring antique show this year in Falmouth, MA. The event will be held indoors on Saturday, June 3rd , 10AM to 4PM at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds (Home of the Barnstable County Fair), 1220 Nathan Ellis Highway, Route 151, East Falmouth. CCADA Spring Falmouth Antique Show 2017

Over 30 quality dealers with a wide array of 18th, 19th, and early 20th century antiques. Buyers will find American country furniture; garden antiques; pottery; glassware; paintings; quilts; jewelry; books; decorative items and more.
Proceeds from the show will benefit the Association’s Scholarship Fund and Cultural Enrichment Fund.
The Cape Cod Antique Dealers Association (CCADA) is the professional non-profit organization of antiques and fine art dealers for Cape Cod, long recognized as one of the richest sources of antiques in the country. Our 150+ members from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and a dozen other states are a community of antiques dealers dedicated to high professional standards. Our aim is to increase and enrich the knowledge of our clientele and the public while offering fine quality, authentic merchandise.

Sandwich Women’s Club Touch a Truck 2017

The Sandwich Women’s club will be hosting 18thh Annual Touch-A-Truck Fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, June 4th   at Sandwich High School from 10am-2pm.   Sandwich Women's Club Touch a Truck 2017

There will be 50 unique trucks and vehicles to the Sandwich High School parking lot, so kids and their parents will be able to get up close, touch, and learn about each of the functions of the vehicles.

Enjoy the Children’s Fair with face painting, balloon art, animal displays, and other activities. Last year, the event drew nearly 1,000 children and their families!

 

Admission is $5.00 per kid, Adults are free

TRUCKS AND VEHICLES: This year’s participants will include construction equipment, emergency vehicles, a school bus, the book mobile, and a “Roamin’ Railroad” to tour the entire event, among many, many more.

CHILDREN’S FAIR: Fair will feature face painting, live animals, music and dance performances, a candy drop, and more!

TRUCK STOP CAFÉ: Enjoy a moment to sit down for lunch, snacks and beverages, all available to purchase at our infamous “Truck Stop Cafe.”

 

The Sandwich Women’s Club is a non-profit, volunteer organization and a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. All proceeds from this event will benefit education and literacy programs in Sandwich, as well as women and children in need on Cape Cod and the Islands.

12th annual Troops in the Spotlight: major fundraiser for Cape Cod Cares for the Troops,

 

MONDAY May 29th
Falmouth Memorial Day Parade

Parade begins at 9:45 a.m. at Falmouth Village Green on Main Street and proceeds to Memorial Lane in front of public library for ceremony.

Sandwich Memorial Day Parade

Parade sponsored by American Legion Post 188 will step off at 10 a.m. from Henry T. Wing School and continue along Main Street, with stops at several monuments for wreath-layings, ending at Sandwich Town Hall. Parade will include motorcycles, antique cars, high school bands, honor guards and police. Speakers will include state Rep. Randy Hunt, R-Sandwich.

Mashpee Memorial Day Ceremony

Ceremony from 10 a.m. until noon at Mashpee Community Park and Veterans Garden, at Route 130 and Great Neck Road North, will include guest speaker, music and participation by local Scout troops. Sponsored by Mashpee Memorial VFW Post 5489 and Mashpee Special Events Committee. Mashpee One-Room School House will have “School’s Open” tour and informational event immediately afterward.

Barnstable Memorial Day Parade

Annual Memorial Day parade forms at 9:30 a.m. at Centerville Public Library, Main Street, and, beginning at 10 a.m., proceeds down Main Street to Monument Square for brief program, then up Old Stage Road to Beechwood Cemetery for main program. Keynote speaker is retired Marine Corps Maj. Greg Quilty of Veterans Outreach Center.

John F. Kennedy Memorial Trust Fund Committee Annual Memorial Day Ceremony: 12:15 p.m., John F. Kennedy Memorial, Ocean Street (next to Veterans Park Beach). Ceremony will feature Cub Scouts from Pack 54, Barnstable Police Department Honor Guard and special guests. JFK

Yarmouth Memorial Day Ceremony

Ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon at Yarmouth Town Hall, 1146 Route 28, South Yarmouth, will feature wishing well display for donations of coins to be placed on gravestones at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Dennis Memorial Day Parade

Parade assembles at 8:45 a.m. on Center Street, Dennisport, and steps off at 9:30 a.m., proceeding to Village Green on Hall Street. Program at 10 a.m. features speakers and music by Nathaniel H. Wixon Innovation School and Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School bands. In case of rain program will be held inside Dennis Public Library, 5 Hall St.

Harwich Memorial Day Ceremony

Ceremony at 9:40 a.m. at Brooks Park, Harwich Center, will feature musical performers, Harwich Scouts leading the Pledge of Allegiance and guest speaker Maj. Jeff Beatty.
Chatham: Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at World War I Memorial at the Community Center on Main Street. The procession proceeds to Oyster Pond to lay a wreath on the waters in memory of those lost at sea, then to the adjacent Korean and Vietnam Memorial, then to the Civil War Memorial at Seaview Street and Main Street for a reading of the Gettysburg Address.

Participants will include members of the Chatham VFW and American Legion, the ladies’ and men’s auxiliaries to the VFW, the Chatham Coast Guard Color Guard, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, members of the clergy, town officials and employees and local Scout troops.

If it rains the ceremony will take place inside the community center.

Orleans Memorial Day Ceremony

Laying of wreath in water at Town Cove, at the town landing at the end of Cove Road, will be at 9:30 a.m., followed at 10 by service at Memorial Park, across from Methodist Church, at intersection of Route 28 and Main Street.

Wellfleet Memorial Day Ceremony

Participants in memorial service presented by American Legion Post 287 will assemble at 8:30 a.m. on Wellfleet Town Hall lawn, 300 Main St.; program begins at 9 a.m. Opening remarks by post Commander James Alexander and memorial address by Don Arthur. Program also features music, prayers and placing of wreath. In case of rain, the service will be at the Congregational Church.

Provincetown Memorial Day Ceremony

Ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at Doughboy Soldiers Monument at Town Hall on Commercial Street and feature musical selections, presentation of colors by Coast Guard Station Provincetown and guest speaker Lt. Cmdr. Frank DelRosso, chief of response for the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England

Onset Bay Memorial Day Weekend Concert & Picnic in the Park 2017

Onset Bay Association will be hosting the   Annual Memorial Day Concert in the Park  at the
Lillian Gregerman Bandshell from 1-3pm on Saturday May 27th.

Wareham Oyster Festival 2017

The fourth annual Wareham Oyster Festival  will be held on Sunday May 28th from   11am-5pm.  It  will feature plenty of food of all sorts, with a focus on shellfish, live music, carefully selected crafters, and more.  Wareham Oyster Festival 2017

Shellfish purveyors from throughout southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the Islands, and Rhode Island will be on hand. Music will include the Southcoast Jazz Orchestra, classic rock band Synthesis, and others.

Other events during Oyster Festival Week include the Wareham Oyster 5K to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Wareham, the Oyster Gala to benefit the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce, and an educational series presented by the Buzzards Bay Coalition.

The 13th Annual Troops In the Spotlight for Memorial Day will be held on Sunday, May 28th – 11:30am to Monday, May 29th 2017 – 12:00pm at the Kmart Plaza in Hyannis MA. 2017 Troops In the Spotlight Memorial Day in Hyannis MA

24 hour event to honor our military and support for our deployed troops, our veterans our wounded warriors and our Fallen Heros

Opening Ceremony will honor our WWll, Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans.

Special Ceremony at 2:00 will honor our Vietnam Veterans. Join us for a BBQ lunch, send a video message to our deployed troops, donate items for care packages, visit the Iraq/Afghanistan Memorial Wall, Kids Tent (with arts & crafts, games, free raffles, face painting), Military Vechicles, Support the Troops Raffles, Music,
Car Show from 4-7pm, midnight ceremony to honor Memorial Day, sign our Support the Troops banner which will be sent one of our deployed units and more to be announced.
You can help by bring items needed for care packages, make a monetary donation, write out a few cards and letters to go in our care packages but most of all please plan to attend anytime during this 24 hour event.

Cape Flyer will provide free transportation from South Station to Hyannis, making several stops along the way.

If you are a military member or veteran we are looking for volunteers to stand at attention on the stage for a one hour shift. Uniform is required. Hours needed from noon on Sunday to noon on Monday. Please send an email to capecod4thetroops@comcast.net

Rhododendron Festival 2017 at Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich MA

Rhododendrons are Heritage’s signature plant and seeing over 100 varieties of rhodies in bloom is one of the year’s most stunning sights. During our Rhododendron festival, guests and their families will enjoy peaceful walks surrounded by majestic flowers, learn more about Heritage’s storied rhododendron legacy, participate in activities with horticulture experts, and take one of these signature plants home with you from the special plant sale. Come to Heritage and celebrate these wonderful plants and their spectacular beauty with us.

Daily Rhododendron Collection Walking Tour

Meet at the Parade Field
Take a deep dive into the world of rhododendrons. Discover how the work done here by two hybridizers – Charles Dexter and Jack Cowles – contributed to the genus Rhododendron and created the plants we love today. Join the horticulture staff to learn how to selectively prune your plants to improve vigor, increase bloom density, control height and enhance ornamental value. Discuss the tools, techniques, and timing needed for effective pruning, and watch a demonstration of techniques on various plants along a walk through the garden. Free with museum admission.

Heritage’s horticulture staff will share the basics of how to maintain and care for your rhododendrons. Included are demonstrations of ideal growing situations, watering, fertilizing, mulching, pest control, and demonstrations of pruning, bud-pinching, and dead-heading to encourage optimal health and beauty. Free with museum admission.
