Cape Playhouse for Kids Summer 2017 in Dennis MA

The Cape Playhouse in Dennis is the place to be on Friday mornings this summer. Discover the magic and wonder of live theatre designed especially for children at one of the most historic theatre venues in the country. Each summer, The Cape Playhouse brings you classic tales, zany humor, beloved stories, and lively music. Appropriate for pre-school aged children and older, tickets are $12, and group rates are available for parties of 10 or more. Running time for all shows is approximately one hour. Don’t miss out! Josh and the Jamtones makes music for kids! And their grownups. Plus big brother/big sister, grammies and/or pappies, family pets, babysitters, 3rd cousins, elderly neighbors, old college roommates, etc. They are pretty inclusive like that. Josh & the Jamtones are an interactive, ultra-powered dance party machine.

Friday, August 25: BUBBLE-OLOGY: The Secret World of Bubbles
As seen on Discovery Channel’s “Time Warp”, National Geographic TV and on-stage by invitation (twice) at America’s largest science and engineering festival in DC, Keith uses bubbles—large and small—to explain liquids, solids and gasses, geometry, tension and pressure. Keith builds beautiful sculptural creations (massive & miniature) with enthusiasm, humor and style.  One moment he will be encasing a dinosaur in a bubble and in the next moment he’s encapsulating an audience volunteer. Don’t miss this Playhouse favorite!

Summer Band Concerts on the Green Dennis Village Bandstand will be held Monday evenings during the summer from 7-8pm   

Concerts are located at the Iconic Bandstand located on the Village Green of Dennis

Admission is FREE however donations will be graciously accepted on behalf of The Village improvement Society of Dennis.

 

Blast from the Past Classic Car Show 2016 in Dennis MA

Cape Cod Classics Car Club presents the 23rd annual Blast from the Past. on Saturday August 27th  2-6pm   All vehicles invited, a show and shine event.Blast from the Past Classic Car Show 2016 in Dennis MA

Gates open at 1:30pm, show from 2pm to 6pm. Rain or shine.

Proceeds benefit Cape Cod scholarship, toolship awards and local charities.

Pre-registration $10 (by 8/19), day of show registration $15. for cars- you can visit!!

Dash plaques and goody bags for the first 150 vehicles. Our famous free driver cash raffles. Merchandise raffle, contests, 50/50 raffle. Vehicle awards at 5pm (must be present at award ceremony).

Dennis Summerfest 2016

Dennis Summerfest will be held on Saturday August 20th  and Sunday August 21st  with lots of family friendly events.    There will be no fireworks scheduled. Dennis Summerfest 2016

Here are the events schedule

Sat., 8/20—44th Swan River Canoe Race, Registration 11 AM; Race 12 Noon, 5 Lower County Rd., Dennisport. $25 per canoe (includes post race buffet/award ceremony). Sponsored by Swan River Seafood Restaurant – to benefit Hope Hospice. Rain or Shine. 508-394-4466.
Sat., 8/20—Colonial Open House @ the Josiah Dennis Manse, 10 AM-4 PM, 77 Nobscussett Rd., Dennis. Walk through gardens. Refreshments will be served.
Sun., 8/21 6:30-10 AM. The Sand Sculpture Contest has become a tradition in Dennis during the summer festivities. The Recreation/Beach Dept. have been organizing this event for many years. Our group has participated in getting prizes and acting as judges for the different age categories of artists. The event is held at the Mayflower Beach in Dennis. Registration is at 6:30AM. Yes, that’s AM. The artists have to check in, receive their stake with their name, category, etc. and find a spot to create their masterpiece. Everything has to be completed by the time the tide rolls in. Prizes will be given for each category.
Sun., 8/21—ARTS, CRAFTS & LOCAL VENDORS, 10 AM-4 PM, LOCATION: at Nathaniel H. Wixon Innovation School, 901 Route 134, in South Dennis. Artists, Crafters, Local Vendors, and Food Vendors (Hot Dogs; hamburgers; Ice Cream; Drinks, and more), Children�s Root Beer Races, Park in lower lot. Cee Cee the Clown will arrive with the antique cars at 1PM.
Sun., 8/21—58th ANTIQUE CAR MOTORCADE and DISPLAY, Starts at West Dennis Beach at 12 Noon, travels to Lower County Rd., to Old Wharf Rd, to Chase Ave., to Belmont, to Division, across Rte. 28, then travels on Upper County Rd., crossing Rte. 134, to Liberty Hall, then right on Old Main St. to Old Chatham Rd. to Route 134 and into the Nathaniel H. Wixon Middle School in South Dennis where cars will be on display (approx. 1-3PM). (Pre-register cars with Penny Bach, Motorcade Chairman, 508-760-4524, and receive a Beach Pass)
Sun., 8/21—White Elephant Sale 10 AM-12 Noon & Lawn Party, 12 Noon – 2 PM, Liberty Hall, S. Dennis.

Free June Saturdays at Cape Cod Museums of Art 2016 in Dennis MA

Cape Cod Museum of Arts  will be hosting  Four FREE Saturdays in June (6/4, 11, 18 & 25) thanks to the Cape Cod 5 Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation. In the generous tradition set forth by Harry Holl.  Free June Saturdays at Cape Cod Museums of Art 2016 in Dennis MA

With a special offering each Saturday from 1pm to 3pm. Hand-build a sculpture using air-dry clay with instructors Craig Brodt and HoYin Yuen in conjunction with “The Legacy of Harry Holl: A Cape Cod Visionary” Exhibit. Ice cream will be served during the sculpture building workshop from 1pm-3pm.
