If you are looking for a fun, interactive and maybe educational day while on the Cape, you should check out OceanQuest, Hands-On Oceanography Cruises in Woods Hole.   This adventure is perfect for kids who are curious and will keep Mom and Dad’s attention.

The OceanQuest field experience is based in Woods Hole, Massachusetts and takes place aboard a fully equipped and Coast Guard certified vessel. The program focuses on basic oceanography where passengers use actual research equipment and techniques. Current information is introduced concerning the chemical, physical, meteorological and biological oceanography of marine ecosystems and changes in these ecosystems that are natural and human induced. Fun activities for the kids will include pulling up lobster s as well as being named Captain of the ship.

OceanQuest is an approved  Boy Scout Counselor for several Merit Badges. Boy scouts can complete many badge requirements during a Discovery Cruise and/or Marsh Walk.  There are several girl scout badges as well.  In addition, they do welcome school trips for field trips and do have lesson plans to incorporate many science principles.

 

Advanced registration is highly recommended as some cruises may fill up quickly.
