Holidays at Highfield will be  turning into a winter wonderland in 2023  from Friday  November 24th – Sunday   December  10th.    10-4pm  Thursday from Sunday each week!

Holidays at Highfield Hall has become a tradition among the community who appreciate art, music, and the natural world, all in one place. This holiday season signs point to ‘Home’ where each room is a new chapter in the story of Home for the Holidays.
New this year will be an exhibition of fine paintings by the artist Marieluise Hutchinson, a resident of Cape Cod and Maine. Event designer Rita Pacheco produces a new take on holiday decorating, in which she combines her signature style with sustainability in surprising ways to dress a table or a tree, all done in impeccable artistry and originality.
Visitors will enjoy seeing the return of creches from around the world featured on the first floor, while the artisan filled gift gallery filled with one-of-a-kind arts and crafts for the discerning shopper in search of that special something will not be disappointed.

It’s time to pull out the holiday greenery!
Learn how to make this festive classic Christmas tree design using fresh boxwood branches with mini lights, ornaments and ribbon with a tree topper. Your tree will last throughout the holidays. All materials are provided. Bring a box to carry your tree home and a small pair of hand clippers. You’ll be able to select your decorations at the class. Your design will be perfect as a centerpiece, placed in the entryway or to give it to someone on your holiday list!

Creative Christmas Cookies with Kay Benaroch

November 30 @ 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Kay will spark a joy of baking with delicious not-your-ordinary Christmas cookie recipes! In this class, we will make Pistachio and Cherry Biscotti, Brownie Mix Cookies, Cape Cod Cranberry Bars, and Fancy Bite sized Shortbread cookies (shortbread balls with toffee bits rolled in Chocolate Sugar). We’ll end class with a cookie tasting! You’ll leave the class with some of our special cookies, our recipes, and the knowledge to recreate them at home. Festive Felted Christmas Ornaments

Enjoy a relaxing evening creating festive felted Christmas ornaments! These bright and merry decorations will level up your Christmas tree! They also make great gifts, can be used as additions to wreaths, or as keepsakes to embellish gift wrapping. Cheryl Flett of FabFunFiber will lead you through making wool fiber into fab, fun, festive creations! In this workshop you’ll create your own felted Christmas ornaments to take home. Come with a friend, bring your tween or teen artisan, or just enjoy an evening with some fellow creative spirits! All materials will be provided.

The Gift of Bread with Gail Blakely

December 2 @ 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Learning to make a loaf of bread in under two hours is a gift to yourself, and you can then turn it into a gift for others! Participants will leave this workshop with a loaf of freshly baked bread as well as a bowl and a whisk to use at home. This is a hands-on class which will answer many of your questions about basic, contemporary bread-baking.

 

Gingerbread House Decorating with Hope

December 3 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Enjoy a day of classic holiday fun decorating Gingerbread Houses! This family fun workshop allows the parent and child to pair together and decorate their own gingerbread house. Enjoy endless decorating options from candy shingles to gummy panes, and pretzel fences, you will turn your Gingerbread House into a one-of-a-kind edible work-of-art! All materials including the freshly baked house, frosting and many candy varieties will be provided for you. Celebrate the season and create your memories with this wonderful family activity! *SPECIAL NOTE: All children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Gifts from the Kitchen with Gail Blakely and Hope Christy

Enjoy holiday fun with Gail and Hope in Highfield’s kitchen! Learn and create make-and-take recipes for appetizers, spice mixes, cheese balls and other savories. This is the time to talk cookies and cakes, both savory and sweet. We will also demonstrate how to package and present them, using dried herbs, berries, and lots of cellophane so people can see what you are giving them! All of our recipes can be packaged and given as gifts, or just enjoyed in the comfort of your own home. And of course, we will be adding our sparkling cranberries and rosemary

Felted Christmas Gnomes with Cheryl Flett

This class is for the Christmas gnome lover or anyone who wants to learn how to sculpt with wool! Join Cheryl Flett to learn how to make an enchanting Christmas gnome! Legend has it that gnomes pop out of their forest niches come Christmas Day and walk through the front doors of homes to hand-deliver presents. In this workshop you’ll create your own jolly felted Christmas gnome to take home. Come with a friend, bring tween or teen artisan, or just enjoy a festive morning at Highfield Hall & Gardens engaging your creative spirit
