Dining out

Baxter’s Boathouse Restaurant in Hyannis MA

If you are looking to dine out this weekend on the Cape, you should check out Baxter’s Boathouse on the Hyannis waterfront.   Baxter’s is one of the oldest Cape Cod restaurants.  It is built entirely over the water and has great views of the harbor activities, including the ferry boats going to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.   There is live piano entertainment on Friday, Saturday evening and Sunday afternoons in the bar area.    12038438_1042312805801541_1798397657429286246_n

A delightful dinner on Cape Cod near Hyannis, MA. Clam chowder & fish & chips.

I always stop by for a beer and some coconut shrimp on my way to and from Nantucket- always delicious and so relaxing sitting on the deck enjoying the view and the sunshine!

A local recommended the food here. Didn’t disappoint. The scallops and fish and chips were outstanding. And the service was great too. Table right on the water

Well folks I haven’t been there for quite a while but kiddos, the view is to die for . Your litterly right on the water, and watching the High line boats coming and going through the inner harbor is breathtaking
Now the food years ago was delicious , I don’t think it’s changed any. And now the drinks, always strong enough and one for every occasion, nothing better than a Pins Colada outside on a sunny summer day.

I have been coming to Baxter’s for decades. Came for late lunch today. Just wanted a small plate (normally I like their lobster salad with green salad or their fried fish or fried whole belly clams). First time ordering their scallops wrapped in bacon with rice. Well done! 6 big scallops! With nice Chardonnay, nice outside seat overlooking the harbor, and nice server–happy to have gone back again. Will return next year too!

I have eaten here many times and the food is great as is the scenery!

Loved this place when I was a kid. Hoping to be there this coming summer. I hope the fried clams and haddock are still scrumptious.

Great place to go during the day for lunch on the boat and a great place for dinner and drink at night.

The BEST seafood chowder ever! I’ve been several times and waitstaff ,food and amazing view never disappoint! Keep it up!

A must for anyone visiting Hyannis. Order the Lobstah dinner with buttah. You know you want to.

Fried perfection! Clam chowder is the BEST on the Cape!

A beautiful view when sitting inside or out. Place your order when you first walk in, because there is no table service. Sit down or go to the bar and order one of their famous Bloody Marys.  I ordered the fried clams and I loved the light batter on them. My significant other said the fish and chips were delicious.
My friends claim the seafood platter is the best. The scallops were tender and sweet.

We try and come to Cape Cod every year and when we do, Baxter’s Boathouse is always in our list of go to Places. It’s sits on Lewis Bay in Hyannis. There are tables outside that you can watch the ferries to Nantucket and Marthas Vineyard go by. The view is fantastic.
I always get the same, fried clams as they are the best on the Cape. You can order many seafood dishes, fried, baked or broiled. Soups, chowders, salads and sandwiches. All good. Delicious drinks, beer and wines . This place is a hot spot so come early. No reservations are taken.

This place is been here for decades not sure how long though but the last 15 years that I’ve been here I’ve been coming here every summer.  There’s always parking and it’s accessible for people in wheelchairs. There’s two sections of this place on the left there’s a little dining area with a bar along with the main room and if you walk on the other side of the building there’s another little area that’s more like a picnic style along with a little mini bar area but the best part is an area that you can walk outside onto the deck why you have your meal and you can see the steam ships and the other boats coming in and out of the harbor.
You don’t have to wait for the birds come to grab you food because they have a string system that keeps the seagulls out. There’s a big menu to pick from all the food is fresh and taste excellent the matter what you get you won’t be letdown.
This is one of the places I would come and relax on the back deck having some seafood on a sunny day and it’s well worth the visit
