December School vacation week is fast approaching. If you’re looking for something to occupy the kids after the craziness of Christmas holiday settles down, check out these Cape cod events and activities. We will update as we hear about new events! The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History-Brewster MA

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents December School Vacation – Adios, Whales! on Wednesday, December 26; Thursday, December 27; and Friday, December 28.
These programs are free with Museum admission.
Our whale exhibit migrates south, as the Gerry E. Studds Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary takes it on the road to continue the 20th anniversary celebration. This is your last chance to view this excellent exhibit about the humpback whales that spend their summers in our neighborhood.
Kids’ whale activities daily. 12-2 pm
Wednesday, December 26 11 am, 12 noon, and 1 pm
Beneath the Waves. Video produced by the International Fund for Animal Welfare.
Thursday, December 27 10:45 am – 2:30 pm
The Inflatable Whale. Learn about the whale from the inside out. Reservations needed. 508-896-3867, #133.

Cape Cod Children’s Museum Mashpee MA

Make a mess-a-piece!
During school vacation week. December 26th to the 28th. from 11am to 2pm daily.

Children come ready to make a mess and you don’t have to do any of the clean up. Smocks and protective clothing will be provided. Yes, it will get that messy!

Snowflake Scavenger hunt

Wednesday December 26th and Thursday December 27th

Children’s Department   Find all the snowflakes in the Children’s Room, and get a prize!

Monday December 31st

Bring a snack and drink to all children’s classes. (No peanut snacks, please)

ROCK AND ROLL – Examine rock samples, learn about rock types, experiment with minerals. Create a rock booklet and a pet rock to take home.

CRITTER CAPERS – Visit with the nature center’s animals during this weekly drop-in program. Free to members, $2 per person for non-members

 

Friday, December 28   6:30pm-8:30pm                    AGES 8-12

STAR GAZERS – Dress for outdoor exploration to observe the full moon, constellations and hear their stories. Learn the Native American legend of the Big Dipper. Class meets regardless of the weather.

Members: $25 Non-members: $30

 

Saturday, December 29 10:30am-11:00am                 FAMILY

LIVE ANIMAL STORY TIME – Listen to a story by children’s author Thornton Burgess and meet live animals during this weekly drop-in program.

Free to members,     $2 per person for non-members.

Pinkalicious Party on December 27th at 2:00! We will read the book and then do a related craft and, of course, decorate and eat pink cupcakes! This program is intended for children of all ages. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED so that we know how many cupcakes to provide.
