Dennis Summerfest & Fireworks 2015

Dennis Summerfest will be held on Saturday August 15th and Sunday August 16th with lots of family friendly events including a large bon fire and fireworks on Saturday evening on the West Dennis beach.

EVENTS are tentative and could be subject to change.

EVERYDAY ~ Water Safaris Narrated Cruise on Historic Scenic Bass River, Howie’s Kayak Rentals at Windmill Plaza, 109 Main Street, Route 28, West Dennis which is opened from 10am~6pm. Cruises are at 11am, 1pm, 4pm and 6pm and each last for 1-1/2 hours. Call 508-362-5555 for reservations.

SUNDAY, August 16th, SANDCASTLE CONTEST from 7~10am, Mayflower Beach, Dennis. Rise early to stake out your spot & get your sculpture created. Prizes awarded as tide comes in. Parking permit passes required, can be purchased at gate.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 15th

• OLD FASHIONED FIELD DAY FOR KIDS, 9am~Noon at Johnny Kelley Park, Bob Crowell Rd., South Dennis. Sponsors – Dennis Recreation Dept., Boudreau Business Center, Energy Logic Inc., Medical Alarms USA, Adrian Whitney & Ice Cream by Percy’s Ice Cream Parlor. Fun for kids – 3-legged race, sack race, egg toss, and more.

• COLONIAL OPEN HOUSE at the Josiah Dennis Manse, 10am~4pm, 77 Nobscussett Rd., Dennis. Open hearth cooking, pie-making & spinning. Children’s games and more. Walk through gardens. Refreshments will be served.

• FAMILY NIGHT OUT at West Dennis Beach, 4:30~10pm: BON FIRE at 5pm until after fireworks show, toast marshmallows. AMVETS Post 333 Ceremony at 6:30pm, live band from 5pm until after fireworks. FIREWORKS at DUSK which are presented by the Atlas PryoVision Productions Co. FREE SHUTTLE BUS, park at the West Dennis Graded Schoolhouse, West Dennis, from 4:30 on, Provided by First Student Inc.

• 43rdd SWAN RIVER CANOE RACE, 5 Lower County Rd., Dennisport, registration opens at 11am and race begins at 12 noon, $25 per canoe (cost includes post race buffet/award ceremony). Sponsored by Swan River Seafood Restaurant – to benefit Hospice of Cape Cod. Rain or Shine. 508-394-4466.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 16th

• ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR at Nathaniel H. Wixon Middle School in South Dennis from 10am~4pm. Artists, Crafters, and Food Vendors (Hot Dogs; hamburgers; Ice Cream; Drinks, music and more), Children’s Activities, and more. Plenty of parking in lower lot.

• WHITE ELEPHANT SALE & LAWN PARTY at Liberty Hall, S. Dennis. White Elephant Sale from 10am~12 noon & Lawn Party from 12 n~2pm.

• SUMMER FUN DAYS at 1801 Jericho Historical Center, corner of Old Main Street and Trotting Park Road, South Dennis from 11am~2pm, Costumed guides demonstrate the varied skills needed for life in the 1800s. Children’s games, spinning demonstrations, House, Barn w/Tools, and Driftwood Zoo. Refreshments will be served.

• OPEN HOUSE AT 1867 WEST DENNIS GRADED SCHOOL HOUSE at 67 School Street, West Dennis from 12 noon~4pm. Special Maritime Exhibit continues “The Bounty of the Seas.” Learn about school life in the 1800s. See school rooms and 20thC fishing artifacts and Shiverick Shipyard presentation.

• 57th ANTIQUE CAR MOTORCADE & DISPLAY starts at West Dennis Beach at 12 noon. It will travel out of West Dennis Beach and onto Lower County Road, turns onto Old Wharf Road Rd to Chase Avenue to Belmont Rd to Route 28 to Telegraph Rd to Upper County Rd across Route 134 past Liberty Hall, then right on Old Main St. to Old Chatham Rd. turning left onto Route 134 and into the Nathaniel H. Wixon Middle School in South Dennis where cars will be on display (approx. 1-3PM). (Pre-register cars with Penny Bach, Motorcade Chairman, 508-760-4524, and receive a Beach Pass)
