One of the best ways to truly immerse yourself in Cape Cod Maritime Days is to check out our new Maritime Meandering Tours of Cape Cod – four self-guided maritime itineraries that you can download for each region of the Cape. Sites are numbered to suggest a trail to follow, but are by no means all the maritime sites you will find along the way. So pull them apart and customize them to fill your day! Special thanks to CARE for the Cape and Islands and the MA Cultural Council for their support in putting these together.

Maritime Meanderings of Upper Cape Cod
A self-guided tour of seafaring heritage of 13 sites that takes you from Buzzards Bay to Mashpee—and wanders over to Onset where you hop aboard the Hy-Line Cruises’ Cape Cod Canal Cruise.  A wide range of sightseeing, history, and maritime experiences awaits.

Maritime Meanderings of Mid Cape Cod
Drive, walk, and sail around 14 sites on and off the beaten path in the Mid Cape, from “Mad Jack” Percival’s Grave to the Shiverick Shipyard Site Marker, with great historic sites in between! The sites mapped feature great architecture, Cape characters, whales, conservation, and more.

Maritime Meanderings of Lower Cape Cod
Delve headfirst into maritime history with these 13 sites, which include the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Chatham Light, and the Brooks Academy Museum. Also on the exciting itinerary are boating excursions, town piers, and even the restored Coast Guard lifeboat CG-36500 involved in the dramatic 1952 rescue of the SS Pendleton and featured in Disney’s 2016 feature film “The Finest Hours.”

Maritime Meanderings of Outer Cape Cod
This maritime journey stops at 14 sites along the Outer Cape, starting in Eastham at the Capt. Penniman House, wandering along Route 6 and through the Cape Cod National Seashore, and ending at the Pilgrim Monument & Provincetown Museum.

Cape Cod’s maritime heritage is legendary. Come, hear and experience this wonderful lore at Cape Cod Maritime Days! See why this annual event was designated one of the Top 100 Events in North America by the American Bus Association

Highlights
Tours of Highland Lighthouse

A visit to Cape Cod National Seashore isn’t complete until you’ve visited the historic Highland Light in North Truro. The 69-step climb up a narrow staircase rewards visitors with spectacular views of Cape Cod and beyond. On a clear day views extend more than 20 miles across the Atlantic Ocean and bay of Cape Cod. To ensure the safety of all visitors, the minimum height requirement to climb the lighthouse is 48″.
