Free Summer Concert Series Herring Cove Beach 2018 in Provincetown MA

Sunset Concerts on the Beach” at Herring Cove in Provincetown are co-sponsored by Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore and Far Land on the Beach. These free concerts feature favorite Cape musicians   The series runs from June 27th through September 2, 2018.

June 27 (Wed), 6:30 pm: The Rip It Ups kick off the 2018 Summer Concert Series at Herring Cove. The Rip-It-Ups play it all – traditional rock & roll, blues, rockabilly, country, jazz, and soul! Fronted by vocalist Jodi Birchall, this band always mixes it up, moving from a ballad to ripping through a blues classic!

July 1 (Sun), 6:30 pm: Chandler Travis, the man of many bands. The New Yorker writes of Travis: “…playful original songs that mix mind-bending wordplay with jazz, shimmering rock, and horn-fuelled R & B.” — John Donohue, New Yorker. Read more at Travis’ website.

July 3 (Tues), 6:30 pm: The Spampinato Brothers literally play every genre of popular music: rockabilly, jazz rock, power pop, garage rock, alternative country, Americana music, country rock and folk rock. The group features Joey Spampinato, a founding member, former singer, songwriter and bass player of NRBQ. He’s played on albums for Keith Richards, Bonnie Raitt, and Eric Clapton.

July 8 (Sun), 6:30 pm: Steve Morgan and the Kingfish, winners of the 2015 Boston Blues Challenge! Read more about this local Cape band at their website.

July 11 (Wed), 6:30 pm: Sensible Shoes. One of Vermont’s favorite dance bands, playing a funky mix of original music and cover tunes. “…An exceptional recording filled with well-written and beautifully performed songs.” – Valley News

July 15 (Sun), 6:30 pm: Zoe Lewis. Zoe and her band plays jazz, jump jive, latin grooves, swing, international folk, funk originals on anything from the piano to the spoons! Troubadour, vaudevillian, storyteller, adventurer, singer-songwriter!

July 18 (Wed), 6:30 pm: The Daggers combine R&B, rock, funk and punk to create a truly original sound and performance. In addition to playing covers, The Daggers also excel with their own originals. Anyone who has seen The Daggers perform knows this band’s energy on stage is infectious.

July 22 (Sun), 6:30: Bert Jackson’s Wicked Hot Trio

July 29 (Sun), 6:30 pm: The Digney Fignus Band is a fan favorite at festivals with playing roots/Americana style music. The shows are high-energy, full throttle fun that feature Digney’s originals and covers. Band Members: Digney Fignus – guitar, harmonica, lead vocals; Chris Leadbetter – mandolin, slide guitar, lap steel, and vocals; Wolf Ginandes – bass; Russell Lane – drums.

August 1, (Wed), 6 pm: The Grab Brothers. “Their sound is like going to a Jethro Tull, Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead and Rush concert with a touch of CSN&Y harmonies put in for good measure!” – Tim Emswiller, Noise Magazine.

August 5, (Sun), 6 pm: The New Beach Band plays a combination of 70’s pop, soul, R&B, standards, and boogie-woogie. It’s all the good stuff you know and love – topped with some original tunes! Members: Peter Donnelly, Steve Sollog, Vanessa Downing, Peter Tighe, Paul Lesniak.

Aug 8 (Wed), 6:00 pm: Funktapus. This five-piece band churns out smooth, sweaty New England style funk. Popping bass lines and hot guitar drive the bopping rhythm section, the backdrop to the band’s smooth, sexy vocals. With funky keyboards and saxophone added to the mix, Funktapuss keeps the crowds smiling and feet on the dance floor.

Aug 12 (Sun), 6 pm: The Groovalottos, a trio of award-winning studio and touring musicians, play soul-funk-blues. Their music, combined with their signature wild senses of humor, make them one entertaining band!

Aug 15 (Wed) 6 pm: Cheryl Aruda. Cheryl and her band sings and plays classics and her own original music across musical genres, blues, R&B, rock, and soul.
